If an acne outbreak is severe, it may be that antibiotics are needed. These combat bacteria that cause the acne problem.

Vitamin A and E are both useful vitamins to keep in the cupboard. They are antioxidants which fight free radicals. Vitamin E is also a very useful healing agent.

Some people are great believers in home acne remedies, whilst others firmly believe only prescribed or over the counter medications will work to eliminate acne problems.

Home acne remedies include the following:

• Colloidal Silver which is taken orally and used as a natural antibiotic
• Garlic capsules which assist in boosting the immune system and help destroy bacteria found in acne
• Burdock root and dandelion helps eliminate toxins from the liver. This also helps improve the skin by killing bacteria.

• Applying a honey mask to the face can be a useful treatment. Honey has antibacterial properties and is very effective in healing minor blemishes.
• Avoiding oily cosmetics helps reduce the incidence of acne and spots and zits forming as does washing your hair on a regular basis to prevent pimples and blemishes appearing on your forehead.
• Surprisingly keeping your hair off your face is another useful acne remedy and helps alleviate acne breakouts. Hair can contain large amounts of oil which can precipitate acne breakouts.
• Don’t squeeze your blackheads and pimples. Squeezing them can cause infection and ultimately make any subsequent scarring much worse.

The latest trend to hit the cosmetic and beauty world is teeth whitening. Over a relatively small amount of time, the trend has almost acquired a change of lifestyle status. More and more people want whiter teeth. It is no longer a desire – it’s an imperative. The most obvious option is to have the procedure professionally done, at a dentist’s practice. But, given the other lifestyle evolution of the era, namely the need to go green, more and more people are turning to natural teeth whitening.

Many believe there is nothing natural about the whitening process when done at a dentist’s. The procedure is a rather complex one, lengthy, and costly. It uses carbamide peroxide, a caustic chemical, which when it gets in touch with teeth, breaks down to release oxygen which enters the tooth structure to eradicate stains. Home teeth whitening kits also use the same procedure. Despite giving spectacular results, with teeth remaining white for a number of years, many balk away from this unnatural process.

Natural teeth whitening thus ensures itself a rather powerful presence on the market. And in many cases, there is no need to even spend more on the procedure, since kitchen staples can be used.

The most used option in the natural arsenal of whitening is, most of the time, whitening toothpastes. These make use of abrasive formulations in many cases, which polish off the tooth surface to provide a brighter appearance. Ingredient like silica and chalk (calcium carbonate) are often also present in these pastes to polish off stains. Whitening chewing gum – another popular recourse against stained teeth – uses pretty much the same process. Additionally, it helps to prevent plaque build-up.

Home ingredients used for whitening teeth include brushing teeth with baking soda sprinkled on the toothbrush. Salt too is often used. Ingredients like walnut bark and orange peel also clean your teeth’s surface. In many cases, strawberries are also touted as a good whitening agent.

It is useful to remember that natural teeth whitening options do not provide a very spectacular effect visible right away. Theirs is more an “over time” kind of whitening. Patience is key. Lifestyle changes, especially where cutting on staining agents are concerned (tea, coffee, tobacco, colas, and certain foods), can also help maintain whiteness and prevent further staining.

I recently read a study that said that skin sensitivity is at the rise from excessive and unnecessary product usage. Is there any truth to that? Is a Dove Beauty Bar all you really want to maintain your complexion at its best?

There is well truth in that. There’s skincare hysteria nowadays; it is a multibillion-dollar industry so it’s no surprise that folk are launching products that are not that fab and that you just don’t really want. You need to think simple: You don’t want to overstimulate your skin if it’s young and lovely because in case you use any individual thing, there’s always plausible of unintended effects. In case you use something to dispose of wrinkles you could get red and flaky; then you definately must use something else to counteract that. Overuse of goods can wreak temporary havoc for your skin. Generally, though, if you are on your twenties, wear sunblock, wear a hat, and prevent complaining. On your thirties, since you ought to protect and treat your skin, start using a retinol, and so forth. On the bare minimum, I’d say use Cetaphil as a wash to take makeup off; when you’ve got acne, you need to use some sort of acne wash, like Neutrogena. You then need some kind of light antiaging product-a glycolic acid occasionally to stimulate your skin, and, for sure, an SPF product. i adore Physicians UV Defense and Eucerin SPF Daily Facial Lotion. It is usually important to offer yourself a break: You do not need to do everything daily. And not scrub your skin. Scrubbing is for floors, not your face.

Most of all, use logic: A skin cream cannot reverse gravity. If someone says something that’s clearly against Newtonian physics don’t think it. No cream goes to physically lift your skin. But that being said, we do have technology that may help skin look younger-and it doesn’t happen with only a bar of Dove. There’s nothing wrong with looking to learn up to possible.

Margaret Dabbs was within the business of feet for the reason that mid-nineties, getting some extent in podiatry before opening her first foot-focused clinic in 1998. Since then, Dabbs has opened a slew of different clinics together with a flagship spa, which, besides tending to toes, also has a nail spa and a menu of holistic beauty treatments. She’s also launched her personal line of goods for the feet (now you can find them at Space NK within the States, www.spacenk.com ). Here, Dabbs offers her top tips for coping with summertime foot woes.

Broaden Your Shoe Wardrobe
“Wedge heels may have very inflexible heels, so attempt to wear those who are lighter-weight and make allowance some cushioning and shock absorbance as you walk. Very high heels can wreck havoc at the feet if worn for prolonged periods of time; they’ll put pressure at the toe joints and the ball of the foot in addition to sometimes cause corn and callus buildup. Mules or flip-flop style shoes don’t offer support to the arch. The secret to avoiding these issues is to rotate shoe styles and heel heights; don’t wear an analogous shoes day-to-day. And remember, pain is the most important indicator: If a shoe hurts, don’t wear it.”

Don’t Sweat It
“Excessive sweating could be uncomfortable, but it is a natural body function. And it’s actually quite a superb thing because it helps to hydrate the feet. It only becomes an argument if bacteria builds up, as this may end in foot odor. Simple rules are to maintain the feet clean and dry-ensure that feet are washed and punctiliously dried, especially between the toes. Wear socks or tights as these will take in excessive sweat and may keep the shoes themselves dry. And provides the feet some fresh air while you can by walking around at home in bare feet.”

Exfoliate Frequently
“The primary issues we see in our clinics throughout the summer are dry, dehydrated skin and nails, cracked and calloused skin round the heel areas, and calluses over the burden-bearing areas of the feet just like the big toe. In the summertime we have a tendency to wear flip-flops, and while these allow air for the feet, the constant slapping at the heel against an unsupported open back can promote hard skin. To combat this, exfoliate weekly with a product like our Exfoliating Foot Mousse; it has the high-performance ingredient emu oil, that is antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory, and has superb healing properties.”

File Dry
“Using foot files on dry skin simply gives the proper results and is longer-lasting. Wet skin becomes soft when soaked in water and more susceptible to tearing and therefore potential infection. Also, the water masks the areas of hard and calloused skin, making it harder to take away.”

Speaking of Calluses…
“Hard masses at the big toe are normally thanks to friction of footwear rubbing the outside and the surface cells becoming compounded. Shoes which might be tight or narrow may cause pressure at the toe area. Additionally, your gait can affect where callused and tough skin builds up at the feet. When the calluses building up, it could be painful at pressure-point areas. Generally, anything that causes pain to the feet means it’s time to see a qualified. Callus buildup is the skin’s way of offering protection to areas where there’s friction. However, if it gets to some extent where the callus becomes overthickened and pushes into softer tissues, it could be painful and unpleasant. Visit a podiatrist who will ensure the callus is effectively removed.”

No Overnight Sock Treatments
“There is nothing more relaxing than soaking the feet in warm water with either a foot-specific product or simply salt to supply relief for aches and pains. i do not recommend any products that advise sleeping in socks, though. Socks are tight to the feet and may therefore restrict circulation. By putting socks over a product you’re creating an atmosphere for bacteria-warm and damp-and sweat will simply building up, leaving feet soggy, not fresh.”

All Lotions Aren’t Created Equal
“Body lotion simply isn’t designed for the thicker skin at the feet, so it won’t be as effective. Search for foot-specific products; these have ingredients (just like the emu oil in our products) that absorb into the surface so it’s effectively rehydrated, in place of simply sitting at the skin surface and leaving a movie.”

Break In Before You Go Out
“Generally, leather shoes will give slightly and mould to the feet with wear, but now matter what, in case you have new shoes, the perfect thing is to wear them indoors for multiple days. If shoes rub slightly round the heel, run a skinny layer of petroleum jelly along the interior to stop the friction of the shoe against the hosiery and skin.”

Take a Polish Break
“Polishes can dehydrate the nail and cuticle areas, making them more liable to cracking and splitting. This not just looks unattractive, however the damage can take the time to lay right since toenails take some time to grow back. Prolonged use of dark polish may also cause staining; it helps in case you use solvent- and chemical-free lacquer, that is kinder to nails. Most significantly, be sure to give nails a break from polish on occasion; a simply groomed and buffed nail can look fantastic.”

Are there any developments in skin grafting to hide some ill-advised tattoos I got after I was a young person?

I always recommend the MedLite laser. The big apple Dermatology actually just launched a citywide tattoo removal facility called RethINK ; we only have board-certified doctors with no less than four years of skincare experience operating the lasers. It is a medical treatment and here is real science from real doctors. We use a handheld spectrometer to come to a decision what sort of pigments are in each specific tattoo which will set the wavelength to focus on specific colors. Some colors require different wavelengths and do not respond to boot to treatment, like sky blue, orange, and red, but when you’ve gotten a blue-black ink tattoo, you’ll get an exceptionally good result. Often, though, most tattoos take about six to twelve months to regard, except folks that weren’t done professionally, which I’d suggest not removing in any respect as you risk getting a ghost outline of the tattoo.

People that prefer their fragrance to be of the boundary-pushing variety were likely as thrilled as we were with the discharge earlier this year of Maison Martin Margiela’s premiere perfume, Untitled. But wait, because now another
out-of-the-box scent is vying to your attention-the primary by Hussein Chalayan, a person just as beloved as Margiela for his avant-garde creations. And there were an effective many (see the current exhibition at Paris’ Musée des Arts Décoratifs for proof). Chalayan’s senior thesis at Central Saint Martins was a study of the effect of decomposition on clothing, something he achieved by burying the complete collection in his garden with iron. He once crafted a whole season’s work with dense envelope paper (Björk wore one of the crucial jackets at the cover of her album Post), and the Spring 2007 collection was a technological feat, wherein clothes magically morphed into other outfits at the runway as a result of a team on animatronic designers with Harry Potter on their résumé. And take into account that futuristic, egg-shaped pod that Lady Gaga used as an entrance vehicle for last year’s Grammy Awards? Also Chalayan. His first foray into fragrance, Airborne, named after his Fall 2007 collection and created in collaboration with Comme des Garçons Parfums, can be his most democratic design up to now. Meant to be an olfactory encapsulation of his journeys between his native Cyprus and London, the appealingly earthy unisex scent is dependent upon notes of neroli, lemon, bergamot, cedarwood, and lentiscus to captivating effect. Unsurprisingly, the packaging and bottle, both carved with topographical scenes from his homeland, are really easy at the eyes. We think that Airborne could be one trip you’re content to take time and again.

Avid readers of the J.Crew catalog have likely noticed a definite constant of late, apart from its reliable collection of chinos and an increasingly impressive number of accessories. That’d be a selected shade of orangey-red lipstick, frequently donned by models like Mona Johannesson and Jacquelyn Jablonski. “There was this cult following with the colour,” makeup maven Poppy King says of the fiery hue-that is precisely why J.Crew decided to collaborate with King to show the custom pigment “concocted” on set right into a marketable, in-house lip color. “They desired to do it with someone who really knows their stuff,” King says, tooting her own horn slightly for good reason. A veteran of the wonder industry, King has become a resource for all things pout-enhancing since launching her mouth-centric product range, Lipstick Queen, in 2006. But experience aside, this actual shade of papaya stumped her. “It was one of the crucial labor-intensive shades I’ve ever done,” she admits. “Initially I did it as a red base and put orange in it. Nonetheless it just wasn’t popping out the manner i needed it. While Guido Palau’s platinum blonde mandate at Balenciaga this season was far less wide-spread than it was for Spring , a number of girls did get the peroxide treatment backstage. And while time has told us that the favored albeit hard-to-maintain runway hair color frequently makes its as far back as honey gold or maybe brunette fairly quickly once the shows have come to an end (see Maren, Britt for a fine example of the darkening trend), some girls favor to stay the white-blond course. Aline Weber has proved herself a steadfast member of the bleaching brigade, keeping her cornsilk white color long after walking in Nicolas Ghesquière’s Fall show. While we won’t vouch for the condition of Weber’s strands following what amounts to about five months of lightening treatments, we will definitively say that the colour is operating for her-particularly within the August issue of Vogue Japan, where she sports a coronet of braids paired with a red lip. As devout readers of this blog are well aware, we’re suckers for a suite of Heidi braids; in case you can incorporate a couple of interwoven black bows into an icy blond adaptation of the fashion, the entire better.
